Coach Sam Rutigliano
Coach Sam Rutigliano brings his knowledge and experience to STO's Browns programming. Sam coached the Cleveland Browns from 1978 to 1984, and finished with a regular season record of 47 and 50. In his third season as head coach, Sam led the 1980 Browns to the AFC Central Division title and was named NFL Coach of the year. After leaving the Browns in 1984, Sam went on to work as an analyst or NBC and ESPN, but it wasn't enough, Sam's passion for coaching lured to Liberty University in Virginia. Sam spent 11 years as the head coach at Liberty University and when he retired in 2000, he did so as the all-time winningest coach in Liberty team history with 67 wins. Sam coached for nearly 50 years at every level including NFL Europe. Sam stays involved with football today by traveling the country giving motivational speeches and working as an analyst for SportsTime Ohio and WKYC-TV3 (NBC), in Cleveland.
